PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an easy-to-combine retainer type mono-block battery which exhibits a superior high-efficiency discharge characteristic and a long battery service life, and permits interconnection of a plurality of batteries within a limited space. SOLUTION: This retainer type mono-block battery 1 has a battery jar 2 formed with cell chambers 8a-8f inside it, while electrode groups 3 are disposed within the respective cell chambers 8a-8f. In each the electrode group 3, plural positive electrode plates 9 and negative electrode plates 10 are alternately horizontally laminated through a separator 11 retaining an electrolytic solution. The electrode groups 3 are connected to each other among the cells through a lid body closing an opening part 6 formed in a side face of the battery jar 2, and are connected to a pair of a positive electrode terminal 56 and a negative electrode terminal 57 disposed on the upper face of the battery jar 2 through connection bodies laid from the lid body to the upper face of the battery jar 2.
