PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a sulfurized colored copper material with a sulfurized colored coating film in which color tone on the surface of the sulfurized colored copper material slowly changes without being remarkably deviated from the initial color tone at outdoor exposure and also having excellent adhesion with high productivity and at a low cost. SOLUTION: A copper or copper alloy material in which a sulfurized colored coating film has been formed is treated with an aq. soln. of benzotriazole and is thereafter subjected to heating treatment under the conditions in which the heating temp. and heating holding time shown in fig. lie in the ranges surrounded by the point A (250 deg.C, 1 min), the point B (160 deg.C, 18 mino), the point C (50 deg.C, 6000 min), the point D (50 deg.C, 30 min), the point E (160 deg.C, 0.9 min), and the point F (250 deg.C, 0.2 mino).
