PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized mark reader capable of accurately forming an image due to reflected light on the lens system of a reader when a mark marked directly on the surface of an object is irradiated with illuminating light. SOLUTION: This reader is provided with a mark reader unit 10 that has a two-dimensional image picking up means 11 which selects a mark marked directly on the surface of an object as a read object and picks up the image of a two-dimensional area including the mark area and a lighting unit 20 that has a light source 21 having an almost planar light emitting part formed by being engaged with the two-dimensional area and a lighting means (the source 21, a uniform light emitting means 22 and a half mirror 23) which makes the two-dimensional area to be irradiated with light from the source 21 as illuminating light from an image pickup surface side. |
