PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high contrast and low fogging photographic characteristics, excellent heat developability and excellent conveyance characteristics after heat development by forming at least one image forming layer containing an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide and a reducing agent and at least one protective layer on a substrate and incorporating a matting agent having a specified specific gravity. SOLUTION: The heat developable image recording material has at least one image forming layer containing an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide and a reducing agent on the substrate and at least one protective layer on the image forming layer and contains a matting agent selected from (1) a matting agent having a specific gravity of 0.9-1.1, (2) a matting agent comprising a crosslinked compound and (3) a matting agent dispersed with a polymer dispersant. The matting agent comprising polymer particles is preferably contained.
