PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variety decision method for unpolished rice capable of easily deciding a variety or a variety by growing areas of the unpolished rice in an unpolished rice state without resort to a display on a rice bag, without breaking the unpolished rice. SOLUTION: In this variety decision method, a variety of unpolished rice or a variety by growing areas of the unpolished rice is decided by detecting aromatic components of the unpolished rice. By detecting the aromatic components of the unpolished rice, it is decided whether the variety of the unpolished rice is a variety of a specific unpolished rice or not. By collecting and concentrating the aromatic components and analyzing them with a gas chromatograph mass spectrograph to detect them, the variety of the unpolished rice can be easily decided without executing special analysis.
