PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting and working device for pitched roof allowing safe and efficient lifting and working on the roof and easy attaching and detaching the device to the pitched roof. SOLUTION: This lifting and working device 1 for a pitched roof consists of a combination of a rigid multipurpose ladder 2 in a conventional form horizontally installed with footing bars between a pair of longitudinal frames 4 in a multiple step form, and a ridge straddling member 3 detachably connected to an upper end part of the ladder 2. The ridge straddling member 3 is provided with a supporting part 7 having a recessed part 8 for storing a roof ridge in front end of a locking part 6 latched by connecting to a pair of footing bars 5A, 5B adjacent to each other. The ladder 2 consists of a structure provided with a sleeper-shaped spacer member 30 for supporting and floating the ladder 2 from the roof surface. The ridge straddling member 3 is set so as to straddle a roof ridge part, and the ladder 2 laid in an inclined direction of the pitched roof is connected with the ridge straddling member 3. Accordingly, a space is provided between the ladder 2 and the roof surface to floatingly lay the ridge straddling member 3.
