PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubrication device for an internal combustion engine, realizing a higher level operation thereof by supplying lubrication oil with the optimum viscosity for each of sliding portions thereof. SOLUTION: This lubrication device for an internal combustion engine, separately from an engine 1 body, is provided with a tank 2, first supply passage 6, second supply passage 7, heating means 9, and cooling means 10. The tank 2 stores lubrication oil recovered from the internal combustion engine 1. The first supply passage 6 supplies lubrication oil from the tank 2 to a sliding portion of a piston/crank system 1a of the engine 1. The second supply passage 7 supplies lubrication oil from the tank 2 to a sliding portion of a valve system 1b of the engine 1. The heating means 9 is disposed on the first supply passage 6 and heats lubrication oil which is supplied on the sliding portion of the piston/ crank system 1a by the first supply passage 6 using exhaust heat from the engine 1. The cooling means 10 is disposed on the second supply passage 7 and cools lubrication oil, supplied on the sliding portion of the valve system 1b by the second supply passage 7.
