<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive iron type golf club head that is easy to drive. SOLUTION: This iron type golf club head 1 has a head body 2 provided with a shaft mounting part 2b on the heel(h) side of a face base part 2a on which a face F is formed, and a weight member 3. The face base 2a is made of a low-specific-gravity material with a specific gravity of 5.0 or less and includes a plate-shaped part 4 forming the face F and a rib 5 projecting toward a back face at the peripheral edge of the plate-shaped part 4 and extending in the form of a ring along the peripheral edge, the rib 5 having a cutout 6 formed by cutting its sole side. The weight member 3 is made of a high-specific- gravity material with a specific gravity of 7.0 or more and includes an annular base 7 in the form of an annulus along the interior wall surface of the rib 5 and a sole weight piece 9 formed on the sole side of the annular base 7 and fitted into the cutout part to form a portion of the surface of the sole(S).</p> |
