A file identifying preferred vendor information is received from a buyer. The preferred vendor information includes names of the preferred vendors. The preferred vendor information is added to an HTML page to produce the preferred vendor list (252). The preferred vendor list can be linked to other on-line purchasing tools used by the buyer. The preferred vendor information can be removed from the file by checking the accuracy of the preferred vendor information through a comparison of the preferred vendor information to vendor information stored in a database (260) and substituting the stored vendor information for the preferred vendor information if it is determined that the preferred vendor information is inaccurate. Competitive vendor data for the preferred vendor information can be generated and associated with the preferred vendor list (266). |
