PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for engaging a reel capable of engaging the reel for fishing in a stabilized state with a rod body and good in balance. SOLUTION: This structure for engaging a reel is obtained by successively notching the inner peripheral surface at the end on the rod butt side of a movable ring 13, forming a first inner peripheral part 13a and a second inner peripheral part 13b successively from the outer peripheral side, making the inside radius A in the vertical directions (the direction of an engaging movable part 30) of the first inner peripheral part 13a coincident with the outside radius B of a part of a first stepped part 22a in the end face on the rod tip side of a spacer 11 and, on the other hand, making the inside radius C of a second inner peripheral part 13b nearly coincident with the outside radius D of the part of a second stepped part 22b in the end face on the rod tip side of the spacer 11. When the movable ring 13 is moved on a pipelike member 10 to the rod butt side, the first inner peripheral part 13a and the second inner peripheral part 13b can respectively be brought into contact with the first stepped part 22a and the second stepped part 22b.
