PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device from which an image with an optimum dynamic range can be obtained in both field and frame photographing. SOLUTION: An odd number line field memory 105 stores an odd number line of an output signal from an image pickup element (CCD) 103 via a CDS.AGC circuit 104, an even number line field memory 106 stores an even number line and an adder 107 sums outputs of both the field memories 105, 106. A selector circuit 108 selects the CDS.AGC circuit 104 in the case of the field photographing, and selects the adder 107 in the case of the frame photographing. A dynamic range correction circuit 109 has aγcharacteristic like KFi in the field photographing and aγcharacteristic line KFr in the frame photographing, which are the same as with each other.
