PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device capable of enhancing performance while securing the data transfer rate between a host controller and the device to be equal to or larger than a prescribed value and to provide a retry control method therefor. SOLUTION: This device uses an alternate area 6 for saving data temporarily when an error is generated with respect to a data write command as a retry processing in a magnetic disk 1 and, thereafter, when a retry processing time is allowable, the device executes an retry processing with respect to a medium access command to be issued from a host controller 20. Moreover, the device reports an error to the controller 20 instantly when an error is generated and, thereafter, when a retry processing time is allowable, the device executes a retry processing and when data are replaceable, the device executes a replacement processing with respect to a data read command from the controller 20. |
