PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable resistor with stable output characteristics without causing instability in electrical connection between an attaching metallic part and a brush even when the variable resistor is used for a long time in an atmosphere wherein its surrounding temperature varies. SOLUTION: An attaching metallic part 32 is provided, which pivotally turns a resin-made operation part 27 above a board 21 while first inserted into a hollow hole 31 of an intermediate terminal 30, the inside of a cylindrical part 25 of a resin case 24, and a hole 28a of a brush 28, and then having a caulking part 33 thereof at the distal end caulked in a manner abutting against the brush 28. A biasing force is applied to an abutment part between the caulking part 33 and the brush 28 in such a direction as to cause the former to abut against the latter at all times.
