PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor capable of obtaining an output which is linear to the input. SOLUTION: This device has a photodiode PD connecting the cathode to a DC power supply voltage Vcc, a transistor Q for amplification connecting the base to the anode of the photodiode PD and connecting the collector to the DC power supply voltage Vcc, a bias circuit 1, a switch S1 inserted between the bias circuit 1 and the base of the transistor Q, a switch S2 connected between the emitter of the transistor Q and the ground and a switch S3, connected between the emitter of the transistor Q and an output path. By temporarily turning on the switch S1 in the state of turning off the switches S2 and S3 and by continuously temporarily turning on the second switch S2, after the bias of the transistor Q is set initially, the signal of the photodiode PD is outputted by turning on the switch S3.
