PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a solid-state image pickup device and a manufacturing method therefor capable of suppressing image defects which would be generated due to the edge profile of patterns for color filters without depending on the quality of the edge profile. SOLUTION: This solid-state image pickup device comprises a light-receiving section 4, color filters 2a to 2c for different colors formed adjacent to one another above the section 4, and light-shielding patterns 5 formed at borders each dividing the corresponding two adjacent ones of the filters 2a to 2c. It is preferable to use the pattern 5 whose transmittance for visible light is 10% or less. As a result, the patterns 5 can completely shield light passing near the borders of the filters 2a to 2c, thereby suppressing image defects which would be generated due to their edge profile for the filters 2a to 2c.
