PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform dubbing at a low cost without needing plural expensive recording and reproducing heads by storing the reproduction information of a 1st disk type recording medium in an information storing part, shifting a recording and reproducing head to a 2nd disk type recording medium side and reading and recording the stored reproduction information. SOLUTION: Information reproduction is performed at double the speed while a optical pickup head block 32 is shifted to a 1st processing position on a CD 10 side, and this is immediately compressed by an ATRAC circuit 50 and stored in a DRAM 52. When the capacity of the DRAM 52 becomes full, compressed reproduction information stored in the DRAM 52 is recorded on an MD 12 while the block 32 is shifted to a 2nd processing position on the MD 12 side. When this recording is finished, the CD 10 is reproduced in the same manner while the block 32 is shifted to the 1st processing position on the CD 10 side again, and such a operation is repeated.
