PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner capable of forming an image small in stains on the background and high in image quality. SOLUTION: This toner contains a binder resin and carbon black and a magnetic powder and it has a volume average grain distribution of >=1.25 and a form coefficient of 100-140 and a volume average grain diameter of 2-7 μm, and the toner is manufactured by 2 processes: (1) a process for dispersing the fine resin grains containing at least the binder resin and the carbon black and the magnetic powder into a solvent and forming agglomerated grains containing the binder resin and the carbon black and the magnetic powder, and (2) a process for heating a dispersed fluid containing these aggomerated grains and forming the toner grains comprising the binder resin and the carbon black and the magnetic powder.
