PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of displaying information with a format that is automatically matched with an input picture. SOLUTION: One page of a picture is read by a scanner B (S2). The data of the read one page are converted into a digital format and held in a RAM (S3). A flag is prepared for header information of the digital format to indicate whether the page is binary document information or picture data with a color number and gradation. by reading a binary document flag (S4), discrimination of the flag is conducted (S5). If it is not binary information, a CPU retrieves the mode having a largest number of colors among selective display modes (S6) and a command is executed to a display controller so that a display mode is switched to the mode (S7). Then, a transfer is made to a VRAM with the format that matches with the display mode of the data of the RAM and the controller displays the data on a display (S10).
