PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller where the number of required key switches is decreased by assigning functions instructed by a plurality of control signals to one key switch each and deterioration in the operability caused thereby is prevented. SOLUTION: A plurality of key switches 2 are placed on a front side of a main body of the remote controller 1, and three functions instructed by three control signals are respectively assigned to each of key switches 2a placed to an upper part of the front side. Furthermore, shift keys 4a, 4b are placed nearly in the middle of a left side face of the remote controller 1. The shift keys 4a, 4b are closed when depressed and open when not depressed. The remote controller 1 selects a control signal sent to a master unit depending on whether or not the shift keys 4a, 4b, are depressed. Thus, since a user operates the main body of the remote controller 1 by having only to care about whether or not the shift keys 4a, 4b are to be depressed, the remote controller 1 provides the excellent operability.
