PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-luminance high-output semiconductor light emitting device. SOLUTION: On a glass substrate 42, an LED chip 45 is mounted and a structure 47 is provided around the chip 45. The structure 47 is formed of two semiconductor substrates 48 and 49, and a reflecting film 54 composed of Au, etc., is provided on the internal surface of a cavity 50. On the top face of the structure 47, a small light emitting port 53 is provided. The light emitted from the LED chip 45 is emitted from the port 53 after the light is enclosed in the cavity 50 by the reflecting film 54 which reflects the light.
