PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate a device in a short time by shortening the time required for learning operation with respect to recording and reproducing of information to and from an optical recording medium. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium 1 has an information recording area 6, where information is recorded, and a recording/reproducing condition recording area 4 where recording/reproducing conditions indicating various set values in recording and reproducing devices for recording or reproducing information and device information specifying the recording and reproducing devices are recorded. The recording/reproducing conditions and device information recorded in a partial area of the recording/reproducing condition recording area 4 are read out, and information is recorded or reproduced on the basis of the recording/reproducing condition accompanied with device information coinciding with the recording and reproducing device for recording or reproducing.
