PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent coming off of ring members when a roller receives a load and rotates by forming and integrating an intermediate elastic absorption layer, an intermediate reinforcing layer, and a surface elastic layer sequentially along outer periphery of a hub member and forming the intermediate reinforcing layer as a join body of the ring members. SOLUTION: This composite roller 20 is supported on a rotary shaft 30 through a bearing 11 in an equipment, a hub member 12 of a core metal made of metal or resin material is fitted in outer periphery of the bearing 11, and an intermediate elastic absorption layer 13 made of rubber which has small permanent distortion and excels in distortion recovery property is baked and formed at its outer periphery. Furthermore, intermediate reinforcing layers 16, 17 which are comparatively thin layers and are made of metal having the same quality as the hub member 12 are joined at its outer periphery by baking and fitting, and a surface elastic layer 15 is formed by injection- molding a rubberlike elastic material or thermoplastic resin from a melted condition in an outermost layer to cover the layer 16 completely and form the layer 16 having a predetermined thickness. Consequently, weight load during operation stop is reduced in the layers 16, 17, and coming off of ring members is prevented when a roller receives the load and rotates owing to the above configuration.
