PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-cooled resistor for high power circuits having a high cooling efficiency, capable of effectively absorbing load energy when high power is applied, and reliably maintaining watertightness between an insulated cooling pipe and cooing pipe holders, by absorbing dimensional variations of the total length of a resistor and dimensional changes due to its thermal expansion. SOLUTION: This resistor is constructed such that an insulated cooling pipe 2 is fixed to cooing pipe holders 3 and 4 at both ends thereof. One of the holders, the holder 4, is provided with a supply port 5 and a discharge port 6. A resistor 7 is provided inside the pipe 2, and cooling water is circulated within the pipe 2 so that the resistor 7 can be water-cooled. In this case, an elastic body 9 is interposed between an end of the resistor 7 and the holder 4, and the other holder, the holder 3, is shaped such that a side 13 thereof against which the cooling water collides has curved surfaces.
