PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the lubricity, slidability and scuffing resistance of the surface of a photoreceptor without adversely affecting electrical characteristics by forming a photosensitive layer containing an electric charge generating material, an electric charge transferring material and a polycarbonate resin containing specified structural units. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer containing an electric charge generating material, an electric charge transferring material and a polycarbonate resin containing structural units of formula I, wherein X is a group of one of formulae II, an aromatic ring, a single bond, lactone or fluorene, Y1-Y15 are each a monovalent organic residue containing the ester of a >=4C aliphatic alcohol and a >=1C carboxylic acid, H, a 1-10C saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon or the like, Z is a 3-20C optionally substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon, (a) is an integer of 0-4, (n) is an integer of 1-6 and (m) is an integer of 2-20. At least one of Y1-Y15 is the monovalent organic residue containing the ester of a >=4C aliphatic alcohol and a >=1C carboxylic acid.
