PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain electronic zoom processing with high image quality without degraded resolution and increasing the circuit scale. SOLUTION: In a usual mode, four pixels 1, 3, 9, 11 are read, and in a zoom mode, four pixels 6, 7, 10, 11 are read respectively. In the case of re-configuring the read images as a two-dimensional image, the image in the zoom mode is an image magnifying the image in the usual mode nearly at its center by a multiple of 2 in horizontal and vertical directions. The zoom image can be re-configured by changing a read method of an image from a sensor depending on each mode in this way without the need for a frame memory and a pixel interpolation circuit.
