PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a new program in a nonvolatile memory by transferring an initial program to the nonvolatile memory according to a transfer program when no program is stored in the nonvolatile memory and then excluding a boot ROM from the memory space of the microcomputer. SOLUTION: The initial program stored in the boot ROM 5 is executed right after the one-chip microcomputer 1 is reset and the transfer program for transferring and storing a program in a flash memory 4 is stored in the boot ROM 5. According to the stored transfer program, the transfer of the program stored in the boot ROM 5 from the boot ROM 5 to the flash memory 4 is completed and then the program made to branch off to the flash memory 4, thereby excluding the boot ROM 5 from the memory space.
