PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll device capable of reducing decrease in the thickness of an oil film caused by the positional movement of a shoe to a hollow roll cell in the roll device having the hollow roll cell, and a shaft mounted inside the hollow roll cell for attaching the hydrostatic shoe contacting with an inner surface of the hollow roll cell. SOLUTION: A hydrostatic shoe 2 attached to a shaft mounted inside a hollow roll cell is provided with a slit 30 downwardly formed from a shoe lubricating surface 21, with respect to a shoe pocket 24. The slit 30 has a depth reaching an upper part of a metal seal 27, whereby the torsional rigidity of the shoe 2 can be remarkably lowered.
