PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the searching efficiency of a searching sensor by calculating the searching capacity of the sensor corresponding to the environmental condition of a sea area to be searched. SOLUTION: A device for calculating searching procedure calculates the sailing intervals and number of vessels from the searching capacity of a searching sensor and the data about operational conditions by means of an input section 2 which inputs conjectural parameters composed of the depression angle, vertical beam width, sector angle, altitude, water depth, and target altitude of a searching sensor and the data about operational conditions composed of the width of a sea area to be searched, the cumulative value of the effective heuristic probability to be attained finally, the stational errors of the vessels from their sailing lines at the time of performing position conjecture; a sensor capacity calculating section 4 which calculates the searching capacity of the sensor from searched distance data which are obtained as a position conjectured result and the conjectural parameters, and a searching procedure calculating section 5.
