PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly print read images with a printer efficiently with little storage capacity. SOLUTION: A film scanner 1 is constituted so as to perform direct print for directly outputting images read from a film to a printer 2 and corresponding to the kind or print-out size of the printer 2 to be used, the read conditions (scan resolution and scan system) of image reading processing using a line sensor 16 are automatically set/changed. Therefore, since images are read on the optimum read conditions, corresponding to the kind of the printer 2 to be used and these images can be outputted to the printer 2, without preparing much storage capacity, the read images can be efficiently outputted to the printer 2.
