SOLUTION: A 1st recording area 3 including audio sectors or the like and a 2nd recording area 4 including track synchronization information sectors, video sectors or video audio mixed sectors where audio data and video data are mixed, sub code sectors and search data sectors or the like recording data used for variable speed reproduction, are placed on each of tracks Tr0, Tr1 on a magnetic tape in the order from a top direction with an interference area 5 inbetween, data are continuously recorded on each sector of the 1st and 2nd recording areas, and the sub code sector or the search data sector is placed on the 2nd recording area after the video sector or the video audio mixed sector.
