The automatic speed limiting system has a number of beacons along the roadside. These send signals to receivers fitted to individual vehicles, using radio as the communication medium. The radio signal contains speed limit data, and a speed limiter on the vehicle will slow the vehicle if it is travelling faster than the received limit.
