REFLECTION TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the contrast ratio by using an insulating substrate where many lines that the mutually adjacent concaves of the projections of a reflection electrode form and lines connecting the border lines of the reflection electrode define many closed curve areas. SOLUTION: The reflection electrode 118 has many projections like projections 118a and 118c in protruding structure and the spaces between the projections are concaves (concave part or concave surface). Many lines that the mutually adjacent concaves of those projections form and lines connecting the border lines of the reflection electrode 118 are connected to constitute many closed curve areas. The closed curve areas have polygonal structures differing in pattern and size. Then a concave 118b preferably has constant line width corresponding to about <=50% of the mean distance between the vertexes of the convexes of the projections 118a and 118c. Prefereably, the mean distance between the vertexes of the adjacent convexes of the projections 118a and 118c is about 8 to 30 μm.
