PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently utilize the display capability of a liquid crystal panel, and to increase information amounts to be displayed by providing a function for selecting and outputting video data or boarder data, or for selecting and outputting character data according to the presence or absence of a character display request. SOLUTION: When a data switch b225 control signal is 'H', video display data or boarder data transferred from a data switch a223 through a data line 224 are selected, and transferred through a data line 226 to an LCD 107. When the data switch b225 control signal is 'L', character display data transferred through the signal line 226 are selected, and transferred through the signal line 226 to the LCD 107. The transferred video display data/boarder data or character display data are displayed on the LCD 107 according to a display control signal transferred through a signal bus 202. Thus, the display capability of a liquid crystal panel can be sufficiently utilized by using an LCD controlling function.
