PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contrive to compact a refrigerating machine, decrease an occupying space of the same, reduce piping parts and the like, simplify a structure, and decrease a filling amount of a refrigerant. SOLUTION: In a heat exchanger for a refrigerating machine provided with an evaporator 1 and heating tubes provided inside the evaporator 1 and conducting heat exchange between a refrigerant flowing through the inside of the evaporator 1 and a liquid flowing through the heating tubes, a higher step economizer 2 and a lower step economizer 3 which are formed into a unit respectively are fitted into a surplus space proximate to a tube plate 12 inside the evaporator 1, and a gas-liquid separating room 4 is provided on a side of the evaporator 1 in a lower side of the higher step economizer 2 and the lower step economizer 3.
