PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery capable of reducing the height of a battery by reducing a dead space. SOLUTION: A battery jar 10 is separated by a partition 11 into a plurality of cell chambers 12, 12'. Opposite polarity of electrode poles 16, 16' vertically standing up through seats 15, 15' from the side of straps 13, 13' of electrode groups 14, 14' housed in the adjoining cell chambers 12, 12' are connected to one another for an inter-cell connection through a connecting conductor 18 buried into a lid 17. The upper surface of the seats 15, 15' is positioned lower than that of the straps 13, 13'.
