PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving shaft capable of easily controlling the load in contraction in the application of stress not less than a predetermined load. SOLUTION: In a driving shaft 1 consisting of a male shaft member 4 and a female shaft member 5, the female shaft member 5 consists of a hollow tube 6 and a cup-like member 7, and a fragile part is formed along a boundary line between the cup-like member 7 and a peripheral wall 8 of a bottom wall 9. A spline hole part formed on the bottom wall 9 is fitted to a spline of the male shaft member 4. When the compression stress not less the limit is axially applied to the driving shaft 1, a stepped shoulder part of the male shaft member 4 is collided with the bottom wall 9, the excess shearing stress is added to the fragile part, and the fragile part is ruptured, whereby the male shaft member 4 is charged into the hollow tube 6, and the driving shaft 1 is totally contracted. The load in contraction is controlled on the basis of the shape and dimension of the fragile part. |
