PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a response at data switching by providing a storage device storing data for a digital broadcast receiver and reading data from the storage device at the data switching. SOLUTION: When a transport packet received by a transport decoder 6 is data of a channel viewed at present, the packet is converted into a data form suitable for processing by a video decoder 3, an audio decoder 4 and a data decoder 5, and the converted data are fed to the respective decoders. However, packets of the other channels are fed to a storage device 7 as transport packets 14. In the case that another channel is selected, a changeover switch SW 8 replaces outputs to the decoders 3-5 from a transport decoder 8 with data 17 for the output decoder. The transport decoder 8 decodes a transport packet 16 stored in the storage device 7 and gives the decoded packet to the decoders 3-5.
