PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize each scene in animation data. SOLUTION: A feature analyzing part 12 extracts things in picture frame by comparing them with data in a feature database. A scene allaying part 16 retrieves scene candidates in which the extracted things can exist from a things related database 18, and recognizes the scene whose generation probability is the highest as the scene of the picture. A scene continuity judging part 20 judges whether or not the scene of the present frame is changed from the scene of the previous frame, and when the scene is changed, an index preparing part 22 applies a proper index for indicating the scene.
