PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary key controller and AV apparatus using the same which is capable of adjusting the operation of a plurality of functional units, using rotary key having a plurality of functions such as volume control and quick feed. SOLUTION: A rotary key controller used in an AV apparatus, etc., comprises an encoder 31 for detecting the rotation of a rotary key 17, a converting means 32 for converting the result detected by the encoder into code data, and a control unit 33 for analyzing the converted code data to adjust the operation of various functional units. The control unit adjusts the operation of each functional unit according to the rotation quantity of the rotary key. This enables one rotary key to perform a multi-function control whereby various operation adjustments of the functional units can be made by operation the rotary key only.
