PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for achieving a satisfactory sealing of an end region at a terminal side of a glow tube, which is suitable for mass production of a glow plug, especially by avoiding damages of a gasket material and preventing entry of harmful oxygen. SOLUTION: A method for sealing is provided, wherein the end portion region at a terminal side of a glow tube of a glow plug is pleated 6. One or more heating elements and/or control elements are embedded in a thermal insulator in the glow tube. The end region at the terminal side of the glow tube is sealed by a sealing element, where the pleating 6 is conducted via the sealing element. The pleating should be done, while simultaneously reducing the diameter of the end portion region at the terminal side of the glow tube. The diameter should preferably be reduced by 8-10%, and the thus pleated region is reprocessed to be formed into a cylindrical shape.
