<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent quality of an image from deteriorating by applying orthogonal transformation to each of 1st pixel matrix elements and 2nd pixel matrix elements, each of which is configured with a block and calculating the orthogonal transform coefficient for a 3rd block of an N-row and M-column pixel matrix unit, on the basis of the respective orthogonal transforms. SOLUTION: An input terminal 100 receives multivalued image information with low resolution. A line buffer 101 stores several lines of the low-resolution information. Then a block processing section A 102 applies block processing to the image information stored in the line buffer 101 in units of 4×4 pixels. Furthermore, a block processing section B 103 applies block processing to the image information, starting at a position deviated by one pixel in the lateral direction from that of the block processing by the block processing section A 102 in the unit of 4-rows by 4-columns (4×4) pixels. Naturally, the number of pixels of a block processed by the block processing section A 102 or by the block processing section B 103 does not match with the remaining number of pixels at the edge of the image.</p> |
