PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To active a device in a short time by shortening the time required for learning operation with respect to recording and reproducing of information to and from an optical recording medium. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium 1 has an information recording area 6, where information is recorded, and a recording/reproducing condition recording area 6 where recording/reproducing conditions indicating various set values in recording and reproducing devices at the time of recording or reproducing information, device information which specifies recording and reproducing devices using these recording/ reproducing conditions, and maker information which specifies makers of recording and reproducing devices are recorded. Recording/reproducing conditions, device information, and marker information are recorded in plural partial area of the recording/ reproducing condition recording area 6 respectively. If the recording/reproducing condition obtained on the basis of a recording and reproducing device itself for recording or reproducing is not recorded, information is recorded or reproduced on the basis of the recording/reproducing condition obtained on the basis of another recording and reproducing device, for example, of the same type or the same maker having recording and reproducing characteristics approximating those of that recording and reproducing device. |
