PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the reproduction or recording operation of the information by simultaneously loading plural optical disk recording media and using a common optical pickup head. SOLUTION: A tray simultaneously mounting a CD 10 and an MD 12 thereon is loaded and housed in the device. By transferring a block 32 of the common optical pickup head, the reproduction of the CD 10 and the recording/reproducing operation of the MD 12 are executed in order. When the MD 12 is recorded, the reproduction is executed by the integrated movement of the optical pickup head block 32 and an over-write head block 34. When the CD 10 is reproduced by moving the optical pickup head block 32 to the side of CD 10, the optical pickup head block 32 and the over-write head block 34 are separated, and the reproduction is executed by the movement of only the optical pickup head block 32 to the side of CD 10. Consequently, the operation is carried out without being disturbed by the over-write head block 34.
