<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting an ATM virtual path capacity by which a virtual path capacity of an ATM network can be set without the need for any special measurement form and higher calculation precision can be obtained over a wide range. SOLUTION: A predetermined queue length threshold is set to cell transmission wait buffers 121, 122, software counters 131, 132 count number of arrived cells and the number of times of exceeded queue length threshold for a predetermined period to calculate a frequency band usage rate. A skirt of the queue length distribution is approximated by using a linear function and an object usage rate is calculated on the basis of the calculated frequency band usage rate, a cell discard rate design value, the skit of the queue length distribution, and the size of the buffers 121, 122. Furthermore, a required frequency band of virtual paths 201, 201 is calculated on the basis of number of arrived cells for a prescribed period and the object usage rate.</p> |
