PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which has a prepit signal having a high prepit signal contrast and satisfactory S/N and is inexpensively and easily produced. SOLUTION: With respect to the optical recording medium where the section of a prepit 5 is trapezoidal, a bottom part 7 of the prepit 5 has a recessed part 5 which has a shape including a continuous projecting curved surface parallel with a recording track. In this case, it is preferable that the prepit is formed so as to satisfy H1>=10 nm and W2/2<=W1<=W2 where H1, W1, and W2 are the height of the projecting part of the projecting curved surface of the bottom part of the prepit, the width of this projecting part, and the width of the bottom part of the prepit respectively. Further, it is preferable that the optical recording layer of the optical recording medium can be produced by a coating process. |
