PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repair a video signal line with very simple constitution. SOLUTION: In each pixel area on a liquid crystal side of one of transparent substrates arranged opposite each other across a liquid crystal, a pixel electrode PE supplied with a selected video signal from a video signal line and a reference electrode which is arranged at a distance from the pixel electrode PE and supplied with a reference signal from a reference signal line are provided and the light transmissivity of the liquid crystal is controlled between them with an electric field produced between the pixel electrode PE and reference electrode. In the pixel area, a conductor layer is formed which can be short-circuited at two isolated parts in the pixel area of the video signal line.
