The wing (1) is of a typical aerodynamic section, with a narrow square-cut trailing edge (5) at 90 degrees to the chord of the wing. The bottom surface of the trailing edge hinges down to form a split flap whose chord is only a few hundredths of the total chord (C) of the wing. The hinge (9) of the flap is concealed in a recess in the underside (3) of the wing. The top surface (2) of the wing is devoid of hinges.
