A composite structure is assembled from honeycomb material interlaced with I-shaped pieces of glass fiber fabric and a skin covering the horizontal ends of the I-shaped pieces. When the assembly has been polymerized it forms a reinforced honeycomb shell. The skin may be injected resin and improves the shock resistance and impermeability of the shell. The structure may be made as half-shells manufactured by vacuum injection molding to resist osmotic blistering. The number of I-shaped fabrics in a section equals the length or the length to diameter ratio.
