<p>The present invention relates to a method and a device for decelerating the trajectory velocity of projectiles (1) flying in ballistic trajectories- primarily those with long ranges- down to a value matched to each specific occasion. As claimed in the present invention this deceleration of the projectile's (1) trajectory velocity is achieved by activating on command a specific method for increasing the drag area of the said projectile. This increase in the drag area of the said projectile is in turn achieved by deploying a ring-shaped deceleration collar (10) fabricated from a flexible material that in initial undeployed mode is folded together in a dedicated cavity (11) in the said projectile and when deployed the said deceleration collar is at least partly outside the periphery of the projectile. The deceleration collar (10) is deployed by filling the internal enclosure (16) of the said deceleration collar with a dedicated substance.</p> |
