A fuel feed pump (2), comprising a suction valve (17), a discharge valve (16), a return path (20) allowing a part of fuel in a pump chamber (35) to return to a low pressure path (45), and a solenoid valve (51) which is installed in the return path (20) and generates an energizing force, when energized, in the valve closing direction, the solenoid valve (51) further comprising a valve seat (54) having a valve hole (52) communicating with the pump chamber (35) formed therein and a needle valve (53) which is moved toward the pump chamber (35) and seats on the valve seat (54), wherein, when the needle valve (53) seats on the valve seat (54) resulting in the valve closing condition, the solenoid valve (51) is energized, whereby, because the energization of the solenoid valve (51) is performed with the needle valve (53) seated on the valve seat, a power to energize the solenoid valve (51) can be reduced and thus a power consumption can be lowered.
